“Residential wireman” means a person having the necessary qualifications, training, experience, and technical knowledge to wire for, and install, electrical apparatus and equipment for wiring one-, two-, three-, and four-family dwellings.
Required Books
The examination is administered as an open-book exam. Use of the National Electrical Code book is allowed during the examination. A Code book will be provided for you to use.

Colorado has entered into reciprocal licensing agreements with the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming for journeyman electrical licenses only.
Continuing Eduation is Required
- Residential Wireman 90 Scored Items - 240 Minutes 70% (63 Items) to Pass,
- Up to 7 Non-Scored Items - 30 Minutes

- Exam fee is $78.00 and restestng fee is $73.00
American Contractors is offering a 1 and 1/2 day Electrical course that will prepare for the Colorado Electrician Exam classifications. This preparation will increase your chances of passing the Colorado Master Electrician exam, the Residential Wireman exam and the Journeyman Wireman exam.
