The associated list of references have been used to create exam questions but are Not allowed into the testing center as the exam is closed book. Individuals testing should be familiar with the information contained in these references.

The Business and Law exam is required by most classifications.

Pre-Approval is required. Obtain an application from the Board.

Once the Board approves your application, you will be sent an exam registration form and two approval letters.

Submit your exam registration form, one approval letter and the ($65) exam fee to Prometric by the deadline date.

Hawaii does not have reciprocity agreements with any other states.

Currently, Hawaii does not require continuing Education for its contractors

The exam fees are $65 per portion, with most classifications requiring 2 portions.

The exam is Closed Book, with a 3-hour time limit and requires a 75% to pass.

Exam subjects include Contract Management, Estimating and Bidding, Licensing, Risk Management, Financial and Project Management, Safety and Labor Laws, Tax Laws, Lien Laws, Business Organization and Public Works.

American Contractors does not currently offer a seminar to prepare for the Business Law examination. We do offer the recommended study materials as well as many online practice possibilities and software to aid students in preparing for the exam.
