The holder of this license may perform only work limited to low voltage, alarm or signal work, audio and sound systems, and telephone-interconnect. The voltage of any system is not to exceed forty-eight (48) volts or five (5) amperes where such work commences at an outlet receptacle or connection previously installed by a person holding the proper electrical license.

The requirements to qualify for this license examination shall be two (2) years as a properly licensed journeyperson or at least six (6) years of equivalent experience and training.

Connecticut currently does not have reciprocity for the classification
Electricians must take at least seven hours of continuing education courses each year before license renewal.
  • The exam is administered by PSI and pre-approval is required. 
  • The C-5 exam is open-book with 70 questions and a 32.5 hour time limit.
  • A 70% is required to pass the exam.

    • Subject areas include: Data and Telecommunications, Video Systems – CCTV/CATV, Sound and A/V Systems, Security Systems, Fire Systems, Codes and Standards, General Knowledge, Theory, Definitions, and Safety

    American Contractors currently we does not offer a study course in the Connecticut area. We do, however, carry the approved reference material for your state exam.
