The holder of this license may perform only work limited to low voltage, alarm or signal work, audio and sound systems, and only while in the employ of a contractor licensed for such work. The installation or repair of any telecommunication work is not authorized with the exception of the interface wiring from an alarm system to an existing telephone connection for monitoring purposes. The voltage of the system is not to exceed 25 volts or five amperes where such work commences at an outlet receptacle or connection previously installed by a person holding the proper electrical license.

Exam is administered by PSI.  The exam is 50 questions, multiple choice with a 90 minute time limit. 70% is required to pass.

Exam includes questions on the following topics: Fire Systems- 8 questions, Security Systems- 8  questions, Audio and Sound- 8 questions, Video Systems- 8 questions,  National Electric Code- 5 questions, Access Controls- 4 questions, General Electronic Knowledge- 5 questions, and Safety- 4 questions

The examination may also contain questions based on trade knowledge or general industry practices. Except for Code books, you can base your answers on later editions of references as they become available.

American Contractors does not offer a seminar in the Connecticut area. We do, however, carry the approved reference material for your state exam as well as offering an Electrical Course that will help individuals get more familair with the National Electrcial Code.
