Additional Services

  • Pre-approval from the state is required to sit for the exam. The State is the only entity authorized to tell you which test(s) you should take or are qualified to take. Any questions regarding which test(s) to take should be directed to the Board.
  • In addition to passing a trade exam, applicants for all commercial licenses are required to pass the Business and Law Management exam. *Please note that we do offer a separate Business and Law Management seminar for the Mechanical trades, listed as Business and Law for Mechanical contractors*.
  • All financial requirements, experience requirements, bond and insurance requirements, application fees, and application processing information can be found listed with each trade exam.

Reciprocal agreements are as follows: Alabama General Board- waive all trades (if taken in the state of Alabama), but must take Business and Law exam; Alabama Board of Electrical Contractors; Alabama Board of Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors; Arkansas - waive all trades except for Mechanical and Electrical; Louisiana - waive all trades except Mechanical and Electrical unless exam was taken in Louisiana; Tennessee (waive all trades if unlimited and the business law exam is never waived) and South Carolina - only Building and Electrical if taken the exam in South Carolina.

As of this time Mississippi doesn’t require continuing education for this license.

  • The fee for the exam is $120 and a score of 70% is required to pass.
  • The Mississippi Business and Law Management exam has 50 questions and a time limit of 2 hours.

    Topics covered on the exam are licensing, business organization, estimating and bidding, contracts, project management, risk management, labor laws, financial management, tax laws, environmental and safety, and lien law.
