The National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) has partnered with several industry stakeholders to create one nationally recognized accredited trade examination for electricians. Through administering state agencies, NASCLA offers (3) different open book electrical trade examinations through the NASCLA Accredited Electrical Examination Program. They are Electrical Contractors (Master/Unlimited Electricians), Journeyman Electricians and Residential Electrical Contractors (Residential Electricians).

In order to take the examination(s), you must check with the administering state agency on their requirements or pre-approvals needed before signing up with the testing provider. 

NASCLA Accredited Electrical Examination Program's administration process will differ from the NASCLA Accredited Examination for Commercial General Building Contractors.   Candidates and will only be able to take an examination through an administering regulatory agency. It will not be available as a national, stand alone examination through an independent testing provider.

Candidates must apply with the administering state agency to become approved to take an electrical examination through the program. The candidate must follow all state agency requirements to become licensed.

Construction is not regulated at the state level in Missouri.

The Missouri Sept. of Transportation approves contractors to bid on highway projects.
States Accepting State Agencies for the NASCLA Accredited Electrical Examination Program are Alabama,  Arizona, District of Columbia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Continuing Education requirements exsit in many cases, please check with the Administering State.

PSI administers the exam.

The Nascla Accredited Electrical exam is open-book with 100 questions, a time limit of 4.5 hours and requires 75% to pass.

The administering State Business Law exam is also required.
