Required Books 

The reference materials listed were used to create the exam and are needed to prepare for the exam. However, only the National Electrical Code and the NFPA 72 are allowed into the exam.  Applicants should be familiar with the content from all reference materials. Questions may also be based on trade knowledge and general industry practices.

Nevada is currently testing on the 2011 NEC which is out of print. We have associated the 2017 NEC for study & reference purposes.

Pre Approval is required to sit for the exam. Applicants must submit an application to the licensing board to gain approval.

Business Management Survey exam is required.

A surety Bond is required. The minimum bond amount is $1000 and the maximum is $500,000.

Applicants must have at least 4 years experience within the last 10 years in the designation applying for.

The fee to apply is $300. If your license is approved the license fee is $600 for a 2-year license.

A license is issued for 2-years and must be renewed biennially.

Contractors engaged in any type of residential work must participate in the Residential Recovery Fund. The fee is based on the monetary limit placed on the license.

The state of Nevada has NO reciprocity for the Plumbing and Electrical trades.
Nevada currently does not require Continuing Education for this license.

The testing company is PSI.

The Nevada Electrical exam is a multiple choice, semi-open book, timed test. There are 80 questions and a 4-hour time limit. A minimum of 56 questions (70%) must be correct to pass the exam.

Exam categories include: General Electrical Knowledge ,Service, Feeders and Branch Circuits, Grounding and Bonding, Conductors and Cables, Raceways and Boxes, Special Occupancies and Equipment, Electrical Power, Motors, Low Voltage, Lighting, Illuminated Signs, Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, Safety Information, Transmission Lines, and  Overcurrent Protection

You will receive your score immediately following the exam.

The exam fee is $95 for one exam or $140 for one trade plus the Management Survey Exam.

American Contractors currently does not offer a seminar for the Nevada Electrical Contractor (C-2) license, however we do carry all the necessary study and required reference materials.
