The first step in the licensing process is to submit a completed application to the state licensing board to obtain approval to test.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and verify at least 3 years of experience.
Fees must accompany the application. The licensing fee is $75. ($50 for License & $25 for processing)
Applications are reviewed once per week. Wait time for approval should be minimal.
Plumbing, Mechanical & Electrical construction are regulated at the state level.

Oklahoma requires that 6 hours of approved CE must be completed every 36 months (3 years). A licensee is exempt from these requirements for 3 years from the date he or she initially passes the current licensing exam. As of July 1, 2014, no contractor or journeyman license shall be renewed unless 6 hours of Continuing Education, within the last 36 months (3 years), have been completed. Thereafter, 6 hours of CE must be completed every 3 years (36 months).
The exam is given by PSI. It is an open-book, timed test with 30 questions and a 1.5-hour time limit. A score of at least 70% is required to pass the exam. The test fee is $100.
