The first step in the licensing process is to submit a completed application to the state licensing board to obtain approval to test.

 Applicants must be at least 19 years of age and verify at least 4 years of experience.

 There are no state mandated minimum financial requirements for this license.

Those who are qualified to manufacture, assemble, cast, cut, shape, forge, fabricate, weld, repair, recondition, adjust and install sheet rolled metal of any kind or combination and all other air-conveyor systems and air handling systems regardless of materials used, including all equipment and all reinforcements in connection therewith.

Fees must accompany the application. The licensing fee is $75. ($50 for License & $25 for processing) Applications are reviewed once per week. Wait time for approval should be minimal.

The Board may enter into a reciprocity agreement with another State if the requirements for licensure in the other State are deemed by the Board to be substantially the same or equivalent to the requirements for obtaining an original license by examination in this state

Oklahoma requires that 6 hours of approved CE must be completed every 36 months (3 years). A licensee is exempt from these requirements for 3 years from the date he or she initially passes the current licensing exam.   As of July 1, 2014, no contractor or journeyman license shall be renewed unless 6 hours of Continuing Education, within the last 36 months (3 years), have been completed.  Thereafter, 6 hours of CE must be completed every 3 years (36 months).

The exam is given by PSI. It is an open-book, timed test with 60 questions and a 2-hour time limit. A score of at least 70% is required to pass the exam. The test fee is $100.00.
