The New Jersey State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers

(the Board) licenses and regulates master plumbers in New Jersey. The Board

has contracted with Prometric to conduct its examination program.

 

To obtain your license:

Submit your license application to the Board

 

Once approved, you will be notified by the Board and will receive an exam

registration form and this bulletin

 

Submit your exam registration form and fee to Prometric.

In return, you will receive an admission letter and exam appointment.

 

If you pass, the Board will send you a licensing instruction packet

Currently there is no reciprocity for this license.
Continuing Education information is available from the Board.

The exam has been developed from the list of references, however it is a semi open-book exam. Cnly the 2018 National Standard Plumbing Code can be taken into the exam, although the other listed references were used to cretate the exam and it is recommended that you are familiar with them as well.

The Master Plumber Trade exam  is 100 questions 3.25 hour time limit. The practical portion of the test has 25 questions and consists of a basic floor plan with specifications and other pertinent information, you will also be required to draw either a ”riser” or an “isometric” diagram (your preference) on paper provided at the testing center.

You need to bring a ruler, red and blue colored pencils Your drawing must be legible in order to be recorded The practical portion is closed book and has a 2-hour time limit

Exam fees are as follows:

Master Plumber exam fee $83.00

Business Law exam fee $ 43.00

Master Plumber Practical exam  fee $103.00
